The Opportunity

Lithgow City Council has an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader Parks and Garden to join their team in Lithgow, NSW.

Reporting to the Works Coordinator - Recreation, you will be responsible for planning & coordinating the maintenance of Council's parks, gardens & streetscapes, including Queen Elizabeth Park, Eskbank House, and other gardens throughout the outlying villages of the LGA.

More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):

• Manage Park & Garden maintenance
• Implement seasonal routine garden maintenance program including planting annual flower beds, mowing, pruning, hedging, mulching, fertiliser application & weed control
• Establish new gardens
• Identify & implement pest & disease management program including chemical application
• Provide knowledge on plant identification & growing requirements
• Provide leadership & on-the-job training

About You

The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:

• Class C Drivers Licence
• Cert III in Horticulture (or equivalent)
• Traffic Control Tickets - Traffic Controller (TCR) & Implement Traffic Control Plans (IMP)
• General Induction for Construction Work Certificate (White Card)
• Relevant experience in horticulture area
• Knowledge and understanding of WHS associated requirements
• Demonstrated leadership, supervisory & communication skills for effective interaction with manager/coordinator, staff, and public to achieve desired outcomes

In addition, an ideal candidate would have experience in Chemcert (or willing to obtain) and current first aid.

• Between $1,237.47 and $1,359.72 per week, commensurate with your skills, qualifications, and experience
• Permanent, Full Time, 38 hours per week
