About the Role

A Federal Government client is seeking to engage a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Network Engineer to provide the required level of support to:

  • Deliver immediate support with completion of Service Request, Change, Incident, Capacity and Performance and Problem management;
  • Ensure that current and future Business Requirements are being met for the client;
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external parties, including senior stakeholders;
  • Sharing of technical knowledge across the team, and provide support to other parts of the Infrastructure Operations organisation;
  • Ensure the currency and maintainability of our clients network environments.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The key duties and responsibilities of the Senior Network Engineer include:

  • Ensuring availability, performance and capacity requirements are met for our clients ICT, including incident managements and future planning requirements;
  • Applying a high level of technical expertise in verifying and validating the current and future ICT states
  • Ensuring that operational procedures and working practices are fit for purpose and current
  • Sound understanding of and ability to operate within a mature ITIL framework;
  • Actively monitoring and reporting on our clients infrastructure;
  • Applying technical ability to ensure the ICT Network and Infrastructure remains secure in accordance with relevant Commonwealth and Agency security policies such as the ISM and PSPF;
  • Working in a collegiate manner to ensure sharing of knowledge and processes across the team;
  • Applying highly developed written and verbal communication skills to develop briefings for senior internal and external stakeholders with a focus on key points and the use of appropriate language;
  • Participating in a 24x7 on-call support roster;
  • Building effective working relationships within the Division sections and teams to ensure high-level of communication and cross-functional partnerships are achieved;
  • Other duties as required.

Experience

  • Experience working in a multi-vendor environment. Our client operates HPE, Cisco, FortiNet, F5 and Palo Alto equipment
  • ITIL or equivalent process leadership as it relates to administering a network environment
  • Experience administering a network environment in compliance with the Information Security Manual
  • Experience turning business requirements into delivered capability

Contract Duration

  • Initial Contract duration: 12 Months
  • Extension Options: Multiple x 12 Month extension options
  • Estimated Start Date: 20 October 2025

Location

This role will be conducted in Canberra, ACT.

Flexible work arrangements are available on strict approval from the management team

Security Clearance

This role requires the ability to obtain a NV1 clearance however preference on submissions will go to those who already have this clearance.
