EssilorLuxottica, the leading name in the optical retail industry, is seeking an extraordinary Category Manager for our prestigious OPSM, Laubman & Pank and EYEQ brands in Australia and New Zealand. This position will be for a 12 month duration responsible for the strategic planning, development and execution of initiatives to maximise the sales and profit growth within the optical product category for the retail business. Successful applicants will have proven effectiveness in managing point of purchase drivers through in-depth category, market and commercial understanding. This role offers an opportunity to learn all things optics and will play a pivotal role in delivering ideal product assortments to meet our local customer needs.

Requirements for Success

  • Develop and implement category strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Define product positioning, pricing strategies and promotional plans to maximise revenue and profitability.
  • Manage product lifecycle, including launches, refreshes and discontinuations.
  • Leverage data analytics tools to monitor category performance, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Use data insights to refine category strategies and improve overall performance.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Sales, Operation, Supply Chain and Marketing as well as external vendors.
  • Maintain active range assortment that meets strategic business needs and the target customer groups.
  • Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with supply chain teams to ensure optimal stock availability.
  • Manage budgets for category initiatives effectively and efficiently.
  • Serve as the expert on category and customer insights for the product portfolio.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in category management, product management or a related role (Optical experience will be highly regarded).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Familiarity with SAP and BI.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Sound knowledge of the Australian and New Zealand retail environment.
