When you choose AusNet, you'll join genuine people working together making Real. Progress
At AusNet, we're the link between renewable energy sources and local communities, playing a key role in the clean energy transition and providing essential energy to every Victorian family.
Help us lead the way, while enriching your career with real people who encourage you to bring your best and make real impact – for your career, our communities, and Australia's cleaner energy future.
The future of gas and electrification
Gas is an essential service in Victoria, and it will be for decades to come. Our priority is to continue safe and reliable gas supply to our gas distribution customers in Western Victoria.
We believe there is potential for the gas network to play a role for supporting the energy system through the transition with renewable gas. The challenges this brings to the Gas Network are interesting and complex to solve.
Maintaining a safe and reliable gas network, supporting price stability, and seeking equitable outcomes for customers through the energy transition will require ongoing dialogue and a coordinated approach.
Purposeful work with genuinely good people. That's refreshing.
As the Manager, Contracts and Controls, you'll play a pivotal part in supporting the Gas Operations & Delivery team to manage day-to-day operations, maintain infrastructure, and deliver major capital projects across AusNet's gas network. It's a hands-on leadership position that works closely with the wider Gas and Metering team to build strong systems for monitoring, reporting, and control. It also ensures contracts are practical and effective delivering on cost, quality, risk, and timing expectations.
- Providing contract and control support for critical gas contracts
- Managing operational contracts to ensure smooth delivery
- Owning and improving gas systems and processes, including coordination across teams
With a Hybrid split (Office/WFH), this role is based in Yarraville / South Bank and is part of the Network Operations and Delivery Team (Gas) and requires occasional travel
This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:
- Lead the contract governance and performance management of Gas Delivery Partners, including oversight of O&M and CP/SCADA contracts.
- Oversee the development, negotiation, and execution of works and services contracts, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives and operational needs.
- Act as a trusted advisor on contractual matters, supporting dispute resolution, risk mitigation, and contract variations
- Management of budget and complete monthly forecast for key contracts within guidelines.
- Proactively identify and manage contractual and operational risks, supporting the broader business in risk mitigation efforts.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships across Gas Network Management, Finance, HSEQ, Procurement, Legal and Delivery teams.
- Lead, develop, and empower the Contracts and Controls team, building a high-performing and accountable culture.
You don't need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:
- Proven experience in portfolio and contract management, with demonstrated leadership of high-performing team
- Advance excel skills with proficiency in using power BI with Dax.
- Experience with operations, capital delivery or contract management
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to manage complex interface relationships across internal and external partners.
- Commercially astute, with the ability to identify and deliver value through negotiation, oversight, and process improvement
A real place to belong.
We celebrate unique voices, refreshing perspectives and diversity in our team. Engage and connect through our social club, family day, wide range of events or by joining one of our Employee Network Groups.
We believe in more than just competitive pay. Here's what sets us apart:
- Flexibility: whether this is hybrid work, flexible hours, or part time arrangements, we'll work with you to help balance work and life.
- Leave: more than typical personal leave and a generous 14 weeks of paid parental leave, with no minimum service.
- Community giving: a paid day to volunteer with our social impact partner, Foodbank, or for a cause that matters to you.
- Perks: we offer all the other perks you've come to expect like purchased leave, income protection insurance, novated leasing, corporate discounts, private health cover discounts and more.
As an industry in transformation, we're excited by the possibilities ahead.
So, if you're passionate about our purpose and committed to making real progress, bring your energy and join AusNet. Together, we can shape a new way forward
