The Opportunity

As part of the Risk & Governance Division's team your position involves supporting the evolution and delivery of the second line Risk and Assurance functions of La Trobe Financial. In particular, the position is focused on:

  • assisting the management, embedding and operation of the Risk Management Framework; and
  • supporting the delivery of key risk initiatives and maturation of our risk, control and compliance frameworks.

In this role, working closely with the Manager, Operational Risk and the Head of Risk and Compliance, you will engage collaboratively with employees across all divisions of La Trobe Financial. Coupled with your prior experience in a related risk role, you are required to work exceptionally well with people and utilise your excellent interpersonal communication, problem solving and analytical skills, out of box thinking whilst maintaining a curious and positive mindset to help deliver on the above position objectives.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Risk Analyst include, but are not limited to:

Strategic:

  • Support the embedding of policies, frameworks, systems and processes to support continuous improvement in the Group's approach and adoption of best practice in Enterprise Risk Management and Compliance.

Operational:

  • Provide support in conducting the half yearly and annual review of Business Division's risk profile, including ensuring the risks and controls register is always updated in Protecht.
  • Provide support to the ongoing update and maintenance of Protecht (La Trobe's Enterprise Risk Management system) in recording and managing risk related matters, including engaging with Protecht system support to meet.
  • Provide support to the Business Divisions by way of risk related training, and Protecht system training around its usage and functionalities to help embed the use of the system in day-to-day management and reporting of risks.
  • Provide support to the enhancement and implementation of a control assurance framework
  • Provide support to strengthening of our Third Party Risk Management Framework, ensuring we have appropriate on-boarding, off-boarding and risk assessment completed and captured utilising Protecht.
  • Provide support to enhance our Model Risk Framework ensuring we have processes and tools to identify, assess, manage and validate our model inventory.
  • Provide support in managing and closing internal or external audit or assurance review findings
  • Provide support in deep dives, investigation and remediation of any operational risk incidents reported to the risk team
  • Provide support for any implementation of other key risk initiatives furthering the embedding of our Risk Management Framework and Compliance Management Framework within the organisation.

Reporting/Governance:

  • Provide support to deliver risk reporting to management and board risk committees, including quarterly key risk indicator reporting, and outcomes of half year and full year risk review activities, working closely with divisional risk champions.
  • Provide support to deliver required reviews and refresh of the Group Risk Management Framework and Group Risk Appetite Statement.

About You

  • You will have at least 2-4 years of experience within the financial services sector with experience or exposure to general risk management practices and disciplines as well as a Risk Management System (Protecht or any other system).
  • You will hold relevant tertiary or professional qualifications. Note preferred tertiary/post graduate qualifications in Commerce/Economics or Risk Management.
  • Strong data collation and analytical skills and experience.
  • Strong organisational, time management and decision-making skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and critical thinking.
  • Strong relationship building and influencing skills.
  • Collaborative and team player approach
  • Open and curious mind to learn, develop and add value to the organisation.
