Graduate Valuer – Value NSW

Value NSW (VNSW), part of the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure NSW, is currently seeking up to six (6) Graduate Valuers to join the in‑house Rating & Taxing valuations team. The team values land parcels across NSW, determines compensation for land and interests subject to compulsory acquisition on behalf of the Valuer General, and provides cluster and cross‑cluster valuation support where appropriate.

Location and arrangement: NSW location negotiable; Parramatta, Newcastle, Wollongong, Queanbeyan desirable. Other locations include Bathurst, Coffs Harbour, Orange, Taree or Murwillumbah. Hybrid working model with flexible arrangements.

Program overview: The 24‑month graduate program includes up to four work rotations of up to six months each with different teams within Value NSW (e.g., Rating & Taxing, Objections, Compulsory Acquisitions and Special Valuations) to provide broad training and experience. Responsibilities
  • Undertake and assist with providing professional, expert and authoritative property and valuation information and technical expertise in line with legislation, policy and community standards.
  • Contribute to valuing land parcels and advising on valuations for rating, taxing and compensation purposes.
  • Support cross‑team work within Rating & Taxing, Objections, Compulsory Acquisitions and Special Valuations as part of rotations.

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies and understanding of how they apply

Qualifications

  • Student Member or Provisional Member of the Australian Property Institute
  • Completion of, or undertaking, qualifications that meet eligibility for Associate Membership of the Australian Property Institute—must be completed or eligible for completion by end of 2025
  • Current driver's licence and willingness to travel
