The Role

The right candidate will provide comprehensive support to our transactional team, focusing on both administrative duties and substantive legal tasks related to mortgage and banking transactions. This role requires proficiency in PEXA, ownership of file management, direct client interaction, and participation in document drafting and settlements. The successful candidate will possess strong organisational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Key Responsibilities

File Management and Ownership

• Independently manage and maintain files using Leap
• Take full ownership of certain client files under supervision

Document Drafting and Review

• Draft and review legal documents including mortgages, discharges of mortgages, caveats, and priority notices on PEXA
• Prepare certifications, deeds of priority, deeds of settlement and other legal documentation.

Transactional Support

• Conduct, review and assess searches
• Create security schedules and cheque directions using Excel
• Attend to security registrations including real property and PPSR

Client Interaction

• Directly interact with clients to update and inform them about their case progression
• Prepare and attend settlements, ensuring all documents are in order

Reporting and Communication

• Prepare detailed reports to clients and supervising partners regarding matter progression
• Maintain consistent communication with all parties involved

About You

• Experience in mortgage law or a related field desired, but not required.
• Strong legal research and drafting skills.
