We are looking for motivated individuals who are passionate about helping to create the future Tamworth region. Come and join us as part of our Future Communities team where we are creating the future places to live, work and play. You will be an integral player in delivering our Blueprint 100, Council's Strategic Plan for the Tamworth Region.

We are looking for experienced professionals to play a vital role in partnering with fellow teams and our community to develop and deliver quality strategic planning services, as well as meaningful community engagement across the Tamworth Region.

You will be an enthusiastic team player who is passionate about contributing to the region's liveability by proactively managing landuse to deliver enhanced built environment, natural environment and urban fabric in accordance with Council's strategic vision (Blueprint 100). You will have a strong understanding of the of theEnvironmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and other relevant legislations.

Experience in Planning in Regional NSW will be highly regarded.

The Senior Strategic Planner Is Responsible For
  • Leading complex projects from concept through to delivery.
  • Mentoring and supporting planning staff, providing guidance on project delivery, policy interpretation and professional development within the team.
  • Managing projects effectively and efficiently including the preparation and implementation of strategic and statutory plans
  • Engaging with the development industry, investors and the community in relation to strategic planning projects/proposals
  • Understanding the local government environment and the interface with state and federal governments
  • Developing work priorities including responsibility for project timelines, budgets and community consultation strategies
  • Financial and budgetary planning experience

The Strategic Planner Is Responsible For

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED
  • 4 Year Degree in Planning or related discipline,
  • Driver Licence
  • Experience in the assessment and determination of planning proposals including complex and controversial strategic matters
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team;
  • Demonstrated skillset in identifying work priorities and applying time management techniques; and
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.

Recent planning graduates or students are welcome to apply as well as experienced planners.

Salary range: Grade 16 - 17 - $93, 519.65 - $106,199.05 per annum plus superannuation for a 35 hour work week. Salary may be negotiated based on skills, experience and your value to our organisation.

Flexible working arrangements will be considered by mutual agreement and according to operational requirements.
