Maintenance Fitter - Permanent Dayshift | South Eastern Suburbs

Chelgrave Contracting is seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter for a permanent dayshift role with our client located in South East Melbourne

Chelgrave Contracting Australia, a leader in trades and technical labour hire, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our client's team in a permanent, Monday to Friday dayshift role located in the South Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne.

About the Role:
You'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of industrial equipment and plant infrastructure. This is a hands-on position suited to someone with strong fault-finding skills and a proactive approach to plant reliability and maintenance support. Our client is a well respected and longstanding business that provides an essential service to the packaging, agricultural, and pharmaceutical industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fault finding and repairs on hydraulic systems
  • Preventative and corrective mechanical maintenance
  • Basic MIG and ARC welding
  • Performing basic facilities maintenance as required when the plant is running
  • Ensuring safety and compliance with workplace procedures and regulations

Key Responsibilities:

  • Basic MIG and ARC welding
  • Forklift operation
  • Performing basic facilities maintenance as required when the plant is running
  • Ensuring safety and compliance with workplace procedures and regulations
About You:
  • Trade qualified Maintenance Fitter
  • Forklift licence
  • Willingness to go onto a call-out roster
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Restricted Electrical Licence ("D" licence) or "A" Grade Electrical Licence (advantageous but not essential)
