Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Bega Group Full time
Overview

Our Smithfield site in Western Sydney manufactures a range of more than 60 fruit juice, fruit drink and water ice products. The site currently manufactures approximately 110 million litres of finished goods every year, including The Juice Brothers, Daily Juice, Mildura and Zooper Dooper.

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Automation Engineer to join our Engineering team. While prior experience is valued, we're also open to applications from junior engineers or recent graduates who are passionate about automation and keen to learn. In this role, you\'ll report to the Engineering Leader and contribute to the automation control strategy on-site. You\'ll be supported by a collaborative team and have opportunities to grow your technical expertise across manufacturing, quality assurance, maintenance, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives. We\'re looking for someone who is motivated, curious, and ready to take on challenges with a problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing, with guidance and mentoring available
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects using automation to enhance production capability and reliability
  • Assist with the implementation of PLC/HMI/SCADA/MES projects, or help define scopes of work for external contractors
  • Support the design, implementation, and validation of software changes for automated plant processes
  • Help develop technical documentation for system design, specifications, reports, change management, testing, and commissioning
About you
  • Some exposure to automation or process engineering is beneficial, but not essential—we\'re happy to support your development
  • Interest in PLC and SCADA programming, HMI, and MES development and configuration; experience with Rockwell, Proficy iFIX, or Ignition is a plus
  • Willingness to learn S88 Batch principles; familiarity with Zi-Batch is a bonus
  • A passion for process improvement and a desire to develop strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude, with the ability to build positive relationships across teams
