Overview

Permanent full-time Clinical Nurse position at North West Hospital and Health Service (HHS) in Mornington Island. Mornington Island Hospital is a remote Level 2 hospital under the Rural and Remote Clinical Services Capability Framework. The facility provides 24-hour acute inpatient and accident and emergency care and comprises 8 general medical beds and 4 Emergency Department beds.

Role purpose: provide clinical leadership for professional and clinical practice, education, and research; support management activities including portfolio responsibilities; apply change management principles by providing support, guidance, mentoring, preceptorship, role modelling and promoting cooperation and collaborative teamwork.

Qualifications and requirements
  • Mandatory: relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences.
  • Postgraduate qualification or currently enrolled in a postgraduate program in a relevant area is highly desirable.
  • Class C Motor Vehicle Licence.
  • Pre-employment screening, including Criminal History checks.
  • VPD risk role; may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
  • A probation period may apply.
Salary and benefits
  • Base salary: $107,960 – $115,604 p.a. (Nurse Grade 6, Band 1).
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution.
  • Long Service Leave and Sick Leave accrual.
  • Tax savings through salary sacrificing options.
  • In downtime, 2 return airfares per year to the nearest east coast provincial city (including spouse/dependents) with recreation leave; 5 weeks recreation leave per year with 17.5% loading/bonus.
  • 2 weeks travel per annum as required and enrolment and conference costs for approved courses and conferences.
  • Staff accommodation (if eligible) or private rental subsidy of AUD$82.50 per week for up to 17 months.
