The Opportunity
We're looking for a talented sales professional to join our commercial team as we capitalise on the massive opportunity in independent media. This role offers significant growth potential and can be tailored to suit both experienced sales professionals and those with a few years of solid experience looking to take the next step.
Reporting to the Commercial Director, you'll be selling premium advertising solutions to Australia's most influential audience - busy, educated decision makers who actively choose The Squiz over traditional media. You'll also be working across multiple revenue streams, including podcasts, video, newsletters, and bespoke content - genuinely valuable inventory that delivers real results for clients.
What You'll Be Doing
Core Responsibilities:
- Generate new sales leads that are relevant to our audience segments
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships by partnering with advertisers and understanding their needs
- Present advertising proposals and deliver regular client reporting
- Identify emerging markets and industry shifts while staying aware of new products and competition
- Achieve sales targets and maintain a strong pipeline
- Collaborate with our content team to ensure campaigns maintain high audience engagement
For Senior Candidates, Additional Responsibilities May Include:
- Strategic partnership development and innovative pitch creation
- Leadership in campaign execution and performance optimisation
- Market intelligence and strategic planning
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in media sales with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets
- Experience in digital media sales environment (podcast experience preferred but not essential)
- Strong ability to identify and understand new business opportunities
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Self-starter mentality with a passion for great content and news
- Strong business acumen and understanding of sales processes and metrics
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- For Mid-Level Candidates: 2-7 years of media sales experience with demonstrated growth potential and eagerness to develop
- For Senior Candidates: 8+ years of media sales experience with proven ability to manage complex partnerships and lead strategic initiatives
- Agency and direct client network connections
- Passion for career growth in sales with ambition to grow with our expanding business
