Technical Support Engineer / IT Support Technician who has good troubleshooting skills covering hardware, software, networks, operating systems and general IT infrastructure is required for a busy helpdesk / service desk with a well-established company based in Knowsley, Merseyside, North West England.

SALARY: £26,000 - £28,000 per annum (depending on experience) + Benefits

LOCATION: Knowsley, Merseyside, North West England (L33) – Candidates MUST live within a 40 minute commute to Knowsley, Merseyside

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: Shift based working hours Monday – Friday (8.30am – 4.45 or 9.00am – 5.15pm) with occasional Saturday working

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a new job opportunity available for a Technical Support Engineer / IT Support Technician who has good troubleshooting skills covering hardware, software, networks, operating systems and general IT infrastructure.

Working as a Technical Support Engineer / IT Support Technician you will report into the IT Manager, where you will support and deliver the operation and integration of ICT Services within the company's ongoing growth phase.

The provision of ICT Services is key to the company's goals and success and requires delivery of a secure and available IT infrastructure to ensure that they can operate with the highest level of efficiency, productivity and security.

DUTIES

  1. Provide 1st line support, assistance, and problem solving for stakeholders
  2. Provide troubleshooting, monitoring and maintenance of the ICT systems
  3. Collaborate to maintain ongoing assurance that ICT services are compliant with adopted security standards (PCI-DSS, ISO 27001)
  4. Maintain an overall understanding of the operation of the ICT infrastructure and integration for quick support and troubleshooting
  5. Ensure that the workforce has effective and efficient IT support to maximise productivity
  6. Provide 1st line support on issues including:
    1. Hardware issues
    2. Networking issues
    3. OS issues
    4. Software issues
    5. OS and Software configuration
    6. OS and software maintenance
    7. Antivirus management
    8. Patch and upgrade management (with specific reference to WSUS)
    9. Proactively detect and report patterns of issues in the infrastructure
  7. Advise on software updates / upgrades, new software products to improve workforce efficiency and productivity
  8. Advise and report on any configuration issues
  9. Advise on and complete automated checks to improve the detection and correction of issues

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Microsoft Windows 10/11
  2. Microsoft Office suite
  3. IT Helpdesk experience
  4. Networking and related troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, Ethernet, WiFi)
  5. Software installation and maintenance
  6. IT Hardware maintenance and support
  7. Antivirus management
  8. Cyber Security Awareness
  9. Good communication – both written and verbal
  10. Flexible and ability to prioritise workload according to challenging deadlines
  11. Ability to work well under pressure in a highly regulated environment
  12. Ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels
  13. A consistent professional approach to all tasks
  14. Must live within a 40 minute commute to Knowsley, Merseyside

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  1. Windows Server 2019 & Active Directory Domain Services
  2. Linux Operating Systems (RedHat/Debian based distributions)
  3. Virtualisation (Hyper-V)
  4. Open-Source technologies
