The Role

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to join us as the Manager Waste and Cleansing. This critical role leads the delivery of Council's waste operations and cleansing services, overseeing major contracts, operational staff, and customer service performance. You will drive continuous improvement and innovation in waste and cleansing services while ensuring alignment with legislative and environmental responsibilities. As part of our executive leadership structure, you'll also attend Council meetings and relevant briefings, and lead or participate in key organisational activities outside of standard business hours.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Lead the strategic planning and delivery of waste collection, disposal and cleansing services.
  • Manage significant contractor relationships and performance.
  • Ensure strong customer service focus across all waste and cleansing functions.
  • Oversee budget management, operational planning, and compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Drive continuous improvement and organisational development within the team.
  • Attend Council meetings, represent Council at stakeholder forums and manage briefing requirements.
  • Contribute to whole-of-organisation leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

You will have:
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Proven experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and managing industrial workforces.
  • Strong financial acumen and budget management capability.
  • Strategic planning skills across operational and environmental functions.
  • Experience managing complex contracts and delivering service excellence.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, stakeholder engagement, and leadership skills.
  • C Class Driver's Licence.

Salary $142,000 – $214,000 plus 12% superannuation.
