Overview

The purpose of the role is to design, develop, test, maintain, and provide assistance with the support of applications software.

Responsibilities
  • Design, code, test, and install applications across one major program or multiple programs and platforms.
  • Conduct design and code reviews; provide guidance and support to junior team members.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain systems and program documentation.
  • Analyze and design application programs and databases.
  • Assist with problem determination and resolution; liaise with users to help identify issues.
  • Work with business analysts to evaluate solutions and refine business and technical requirements.
  • Ensure solutions are developed within agreed time frames and scope to meet business requirements.
  • Deliver quality applications that are defect-free, fit for purpose, and maintainable.
  • Develop solutions that meet security and privacy standards.
  • Adhere to published processes and procedures and suggest enhancements where appropriate.
  • Communicate development status effectively to the Project Team.
  • Demonstrate strong customer and service orientation.
  • Collaborate across teams to maintain and enhance IT systems health and performance.
  • Apply Agile ways of working.
  • Respond quickly to high-severity system issues and resolve them effectively.
  • Communicate clearly across all levels of the organisation.
Required Skills and Experience
  • 6+ years of experience in programming and applications design, with at least 4 years in a large IT site; tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Commercial experience in developing applications, including at least 4 years with Microsoft .NET; proficient in C#, architecture, and design standards.
  • Frontend Development: strong experience with ASP.NET and MVC for building responsive web applications.
  • Backend Development: proficient in .NET, .NET Core, C#, and Entity Framework; experience with Web API, SOAP services, and XML integration.
  • Database: solid knowledge of SQL Server and SQL Managed Instance (SQL MI).
  • Cloud Platforms: hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • DevOps & Tools: familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Terraform; proficient in Jira and Confluence for agile project management and documentation.
  • Extensive knowledge of dependency injection and Entity Framework; strong OO analysis and design skills;
  • Ability to understand user needs and translate them into well-designed programs.
  • Experience in component and assembly testing; thorough understanding of the SDLC; knowledge of common debugging techniques.
  • Experience in planning and estimating personal and team work effort; ability to communicate technical issues to all levels of management and users; skills in structured analysis and problem analysis.
