Payroll / Accounts Officer

We're looking for a detail-oriented Payroll & Accounts Officer to join our team on a maternity leave contract commencing 11th August 2025. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys variety in their day-to-day responsibilities. Hours are flexible, and for the right candidate, there is scope to include Executive Assistant duties to expand the position.
If you have the experience and are looking for a 38-hour working week, the EA component can be added. We will provide a 2-month training and handover period to ensure your setup for success.
Formed in 2010 Maxwell Recruitment & Training provides superior service to our clients as the only labour-hire & GTO company with its own RTO on-site in the Hunter Region.
Key Responsibilities:
End-to-end (360) payroll processing across multiple entities
Manage accounts payable and receivable
Reconcile and manage accounts
Work across a range of industry awards and EBAs
Support compliance and reporting functions
About the Role:
$50 per hour
Contract length: approx. 9–12 months (maternity leave cover)
Flexible hours: 24 to 32 hours per week (negotiable)
3 entities under management – variety guaranteed
Opportunity to include EA duties if you're looking for more responsibility
Skills and Experience:
Proven experience in payroll and accounts administration
Comfortable working across multiple awards and EBAs
Confident using Xero and a range of computer systems
Astute Payroll experience is a bonus, but not essential
Strong attention to detail and time management skills
Adaptable, proactive and enjoys working independently
