About You

As a Children Services Team Leader, you will:

Work in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders in the effective delivery of support services to Westhaven Children and Young People (CYP) with a range of complex needs

Partner with children and young people (CYP) diagnosed with a disability and/or complex behaviour needs to achieve their goals and to live life the way they choose

Be responsible for ensuring the children and young people you support are receiving a high level of quality care with dignity and respect from a team of support workers you will lead, mentor and supervise

You will have:

Advanced problem-solving capabilities, confidence and emotional intelligence that enable you to resolve complex situations

The ability to interact positively at all levels, including demonstrated capacity to work with culturally and linguistically diverse communities

Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and performance manage a team within a dynamic and fast paced environment

Effective conflict resolution skills, negotiation, mediation and decision-making skills paired with exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to confidently apply de-escalation strategies in high conflict situations

Demonstrated ability to build a cohesive team with clarity around goals and accountabilities

A leadership style that fosters innovative, creative and collaborative practices and the ability to motivate others

Willingness to take a person-centred approach to working with vulnerable persons to ensure that the goals and aspirations of the person with disability are understood

Celebrate and nurture an inclusive, diverse and supportive workplace

Certificate IV or Diploma in Disability Services, Community Services, Children's Services or similar field; or identify as Aboriginal and be willing to work towards a relevant qualification

Experience supporting individuals with complex needs, behaviours of concern and mental health concerns

Experience working with people with a disability, highly regarded

Experience working with children or youth in a care or education setting, highly regarded

Compliance requirements

Current NSW Driver's licence

Obtain and maintain a current paid Working with Children Check (WWCC)

Obtain and maintain a valid National Disability Insurance Scheme Workers Check (NDISWC)

Willingness to undertake a pre-employment police check

Current First Aid and CPR Certification
