Data Governance Analyst

Location: Hybrid - Eastern Suburbs, VIC

Contract Type: 6-month contract

Hours: 38 hours per week

Start Date: Early July 2025

About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Data Governance Analyst to support a large-scale data uplift program within a public sector utility. The focus will be on strengthening data governance frameworks, supporting the rollout of metadata tools, and improving data quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather and document business and data requirements through stakeholder engagement
  • Perform data assessments including profiling, lineage analysis, and issue resolution
  • Validate data integrity throughout migration activities
  • Identify process gaps and recommend governance or training solutions
  • Assist in implementing data governance tools and interpreting profiling results
  • Monitor and improve data quality, including missing or inconsistent values

About You

  • 5+ years of experience in data/information management
  • Proven experience in data governance, data quality, and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, SOCI, Public Records Act)
  • Hands-on knowledge of tools such as Microsoft Purview and Alation
  • SQL or other data querying experience highly desirable
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and documentation skills
