Your Opportunity

Port of Newcastle is seeking an experienced Environment Manager to join our team for a 12-month fixed term contract. The role will provide significant input on environmental management issues and requires balance of operational responsibilities with strategic leadership.

Your Main Responsibilities Will Include
  • Management of all operational environmental compliance requirements
  • Provide accurate, commercially astute, and timely advice on environmental issues
  • Maintenance of environmental management system to ISO 14001 standard
  • Providing environmental support and advice on various capex projects
  • Maintaining effective relationships with key internal stakeholders and PON's partner, government and external stakeholders
What You Will Bring

To be effective in this role, you will hold a tertiary qualification in engineering, science or a relevant area. You will possess previous experience working with contaminated land and asbestos management, as well as experience in development and implementation of policy, procedures and management systems. Prior involvement in managing project consultants and dealing with regulatory agencies is essential. Your strong customer focus, and ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders is crucial. Your excellent communication skills, ability to build rapport and manage diverse stakeholders will aid you in your success. Knowledge of port operations and port development is advantageous.
