
Safety and Compliance Officer

HM is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety and Compliance Officer to join our team. This role is critical in supporting the wider management team to ensure our operations meet all safety and compliance obligations, while driving continuous improvement across the business.
You'll be responsible for assisting in the implementation and managing our Safety Management System (HSQMS), conducting audits, investigating incidents, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and client-specific requirements.
Responsibilities- Support and enhance the Safety Management System (HSQMS), including safety reporting, audits, and risk management.
- Conduct scheduled and unscheduled audits to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
- Investigate safety incidents and provide confidential, thorough reporting.
- Maintain safety documentation and coordinate emergency response drills.
- Ensure contractor onboarding and staff training materials are current and effective.
- Monitor client-specific compliance (e.g., BARS) and contribute to quarterly safety reporting.
- Lead small-scale safety improvement initiatives and support change management.
- Diploma or Degree in Civil Aviation Safety, Security Operations, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in aviation safety, compliance, or aerodrome operations.
- Knowledge of CASA regulations, safety management systems, and emergency procedures.
- Standard computer literacy, especially in safety reporting and documentation tools.
- Valid Driver's Licence and eligibility for a Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
- Passionate about aviation safety and compliance.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Confident communicator and team collaborator.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Self-driven and capable of interpreting regulations into actionable strategies.
