Contribute to cutting-edge planning in one of Australia's leading water innovation hubs for the dry tropics.
About CouncilTownsville City Council is the largest regional Council in Queensland employing over 1700 staff and has an annual budget of approximately $868M and community assets of nearly $9 billion. They see the world is changing so they are changing too. Their people and their jobs are as diverse as the communities they serve. With Townsville expected to continue to experience strong economic and population growth over the coming decades modelling for this growth and forecasting via an evidence-based planning system has arguably put Council at the forefront of innovation in this area within QLD Local Government.
This Regions relationship with water has been shaped by its unique dry tropical climate and extreme weather patterns and events. Townsville is renowned as an international water innovation hub that showcases water sensitive technology, practices, and design for the dry tropics.
The PositionCouncil is looking for enthusiastic, water resource focused civil or mechanical engineers who are keen to learn and who are seeking to progress their careers and be part of a team that delivers pragmatic, sustainable solutions that will shape and co-create a more sustainable future for the Townsville community.
Skilled in Excel, your proficiency in AutoCAD, ArcGIS/ArcMAP and other related computer programs will be used to enhance reports with diagrams to provide additional information and validation around what the models are saying vs what the systems are showing. You will be someone who enjoys solving complex problems, managing multiple priorities, and contributing to a culture of safety, accountability, and innovation. Whether you are coming from local government or a consultancy, if you are ready to make a tangible difference in a vibrant regional community, this is your opportunity to shine.
