About The OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity for a Subcontracts Manager to join our Hawk LIF program based at RAAF Base Williamtown.

Reporting to the Hawk LIF Supply Chain Manager, you will be working within our high-profile Aerospace business unit, responsible for managing major subcontracts and associated Hawk Repairable Items (RI) to meet project availability requirements alongside quality and cost expectations through effective supply chain, commercial, and contracting management. This also includes facilitating strong working relationships with suppliers, their supply chains, and internal stakeholders.

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Be the single point of contact for all issues related to subcontract compliance, delivery performance, risks, and lead the resolution of any contractual issues and disputes across the supply chain.
2. Lead the subcontracts and repairable items team to deliver and sustain the required level of performance to support the project.
3. Be the point of escalation for expediting vulnerable and critical subcontractor and RI requirements via order book performance.
4. Prepare and negotiate subcontract amendments and change proposals associated with award term reviews and survey & quote activities.
5. Develop and execute new subcontract business agreements and statements of work when required, liaising with the project and functional teams for successful outcomes.
6. Oversee adherence to contractual obligations through effective contract management, including payments, claims, warranties, cash flow, and flow-down of contract amendments.
7. Manage subcontract change, identify/cost, and monitor emerging risks appropriately, including those of the supplier's supply chain.
8. Perform cost account management for all Lead In Fighter (LIF) subcontracts and be the point of contact for the LIF supply chain team.
9. Establish licenses/agreements in accordance with import/export requirements, administer the LIF obsolescence register, and coordinate BAE Systems' responses to proactively ensure the availability of obsolescence-affected items.

About YOU

1. Demonstrated experience in subcontract, project management, engineering, procurement, or commercial roles within a complex environment with a successful track record of delivering major subcontract obligations.
2. Strong leadership and management skills, with substantial experience in developing and negotiating complex contracts.
3. A background in supervising and mentoring is highly regarded.
4. Ability to collaborate effectively with European and UK stakeholders, including attending meetings across time zones and undertaking 1-2 overseas trips annually.
5. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills to build effective working relationships with project teams and major suppliers.
6. Ability to balance conflicting priorities to meet customer and business requirements.
7. While not essential, a degree or tertiary qualification in project management, procurement, engineering, or a commercial discipline, along with professional procurement certification, and experience in construction, shipbuilding, or defense projects is desirable.
