About the Role
The Principal Consultant Workplace Relations will be an integral part of the workplace relations team and work closely with colleagues as a member or leader on key projects or matters, as well as managing day-to-day employee and industrial relations issues. Examples of projects or matters that the Principal Consultant Workplace Relations will be involved in include enterprise bargaining, policy reviews, Fair Work Commission matters and dispute resolution. This position will play a key role to ensure that FRV complies with legal obligation and mitigates industrial and employee relations risks.
Functional Accountabilities include:
- Provide high-level, strategic and specialist/ technical advice and guidance on workplace relations matters to FRV leaders and line managers as required.
- Manage, monitor, analyse, interpret and report back on complex and other employee and industrial relations issues, trends and disputes applicable to FRV, and engage with the team and broader business (where appropriate) to develop and implement initiatives and measures to achieve continuous improvement.
- Play a key role ensuring compliance with applicable industrial instruments, via close collaboration with other divisions within the People and Culture Directorate and across FRV, aimed at ensuring that FRV complies with legal obligations and mitigates industrial and employee relations risk
- Pro-actively build and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with key stakeholders including but not limited to the UFU, AMWU, ASU and MEAA and other bodies such as industry associations and regulators, where applicable.
What you will need to Succeed
To be successful in this position, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Law or related discipline and/or proven experience undertaking a similar role in a large and complex organisation.
- Demonstrated experience in industrial relations in a complex environment.
- Highly developed oral and written communication and negotiation skills, and ability to write in a clear and unambiguous manner.
- Demonstrated experience providing high level technical advice (employment/industrial relations/injury management).
- Demonstrated experience managing and engaging with stakeholders.
Ability to monitor and analyse industrial/ workplace issues, trends, case law and legislative change.

FRV's standard practice is to appoint at the base of the salary range, however consideration will be given to an above base salary within the advertised range based on the successful candidate's skills and experience.
