Where you\'ll be working
The MAU provides short term, multidisciplinary, acute care for patients who do not require or no longer require treatment in the Emergency Department (ED). The unit is designed to reduce length of stay in the ED and inpatient wards by commencing rapid assessment, faster diagnostics and earlier treatment for the undifferentiated, complex, chronic and non-critical medical patients. Patients can be referred direct to the MAU from ED/triage, clinics, Consultant rooms and General Practitioners. Patients' length of stay in the MAU is on average 48 hours.
What You\'ll Be Doing
The purpose of this role is to provide safe and effective nursing care to patients using an individualised holistic approach related to the goals of care determined by the Primary Nurse (Registered Nurse) and within professional role limits and Enrolled Nurse Scope of Practice. In the delivery of nursing care the Enrolled Nurse will work under both the direct and indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse.
The Enrolled Nurse will consult with the registered nurse to ensure delegation is commensurate with own level of competence and within Local Health District (LHD) and Service policy, particularly in relation to the administration of medications.
Qualifications / Candidate criteria
- Current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse.
- Post registration experience in an acute hospital setting.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal.
- People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
