Nurse Unit Manager Level 2 – Killara Rehabilitation – Temporary Full-Time – The Sutherland Hospital (NSW Health).

Where You'll Be Working

Killara Rehabilitation is a ward that utilises a multi-disciplinary approach to help patients regain mobility, self-care and independence. Services include care for patients recovering from stroke, orthopaedic surgery, general deconditioning, aging-related concerns, and home management challenges. A large gymnasium is available for group sessions and personalised exercise regimes; four independent living units enable practice of self-care in the bathroom and kitchen. Nursing, medical, and allied health staff collaborate to provide holistic care.

The Nursing Unit Manager (NUM) is the registered nurse in charge of a ward within SESLHD.

The purpose of the Nursing Unit Manager Killara Rehabilitation is to:

• Lead, direct and co-ordinate patient or client care;
• Ensure nursing/midwifery practice is safe and efficient, maintaining standards of care through continual quality improvement initiatives;
• Lead and co-ordinate the nursing/midwifery and multi-disciplinary care team at the ward or unit level;
• Monitor and manage the business and management functions and processes of the ward or unit.

As the leader of the unit, the NUM will demonstrate capability through attitude, skills, behaviour and attributes, including:

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia and a current NSW driver's licence (or willingness to travel as required).
• Relevant management qualification or equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience with a commitment to professional development.
• Knowledge and experience in management and delivery of health care services.
• Proven ability in innovative clinical service delivery, harm minimisation and practice development.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills to engage, enable and manage teams.
• Ability to create and maintain a positive workplace culture and articulate a vision for nursing services.
• Recent clinical experience in Rehabilitation and/or Acute Aged Care Nursing.
