Synergy is Western Australia's largest electricity generator and energy retailer, serving about 1.2 million customers. We are investing in renewable energy projects to support a sustainable and reliable energy future, including wind farms and big batteries. We are looking for a Corporate Finance Analyst to contribute to Synergy's financial strategy and governance, supporting treasury, insurance, and the governance of wholesale energy trading activities.
Job Responsibilities- Support cash and liquidity management, including preparing cashflow forecasts, executing financial market transactions, and maintaining hedge accounting documentation.
- Assist with the annual insurance renewal process, claims management, and coordination with brokers and underwriters, while maintaining accurate insurance records.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory obligations (e.g., Renewable Energy Target and carbon reporting) and maintain supporting documentation and financial models.
- Monitor and assess counterparty credit risk under Synergy's wholesale energy credit policy; review contract proposals to identify and manage financial risks.
- Contribute to financial modelling, reconciliation of energy supplier invoices, and preparation of reports for governance committees (including the Audit and Risk Committee).
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline (CA or CPA qualifications are highly regarded).
- Strong Excel financial modelling skills and familiarity with SAP for financial transactions and reporting.
- Exposure to treasury operations, insurance processes, or corporate finance, ideally in a corporate, banking, consulting, or insurance environment.
- Working knowledge of energy trading market rules and renewable energy legislation is advantageous.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external stakeholders.
