Position Title: Early Childhood Teacher (ECT)

Position Overview:
The Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) is responsible for developing, planning, and implementing an educational program that supports and enhances the learning and development of children aged [insert age range]. The ECT ensures the curriculum aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standards (NQS) while fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Curriculum Development: Design and implement high-quality, play-based learning programs that cater to the individual strengths and interests of children, ensuring alignment with EYLF and NQS.
  • Child Development: Monitor and assess children's developmental progress, maintaining up-to-date and accurate records. Provide tailored support to meet individual developmental needs.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor early childhood educators, guiding their professional growth and ensuring the delivery of quality education.
  • Family Engagement: Build strong relationships with families, encouraging active participation in their child's education and sharing regular updates about their progress and achievements.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure the centre complies with regulatory requirements, including health, safety, and child protection standards. Maintain a clean, safe, and engaging environment for all children.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other educators and support staff to create a cohesive, nurturing, and educational environment for children.
  • Professional Development: Stay up to date with best practices in early childhood education, participating in ongoing professional learning and development opportunities.

Key Selection Criteria:

Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent).
  • Current Working With Children Check.
  • Current First Aid Certificate, including CPR and Anaphylaxis training.

Experience: 
  • Proven experience working with children in an early childhood setting.
  • Sound knowledge of EYLF, NQS, and other relevant regulations and standards.

Skills: 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Effective time management and organisational skills.
  • Strong understanding of child development principles and practices.
