With recent contract wins and continued growth, NEPEAN Longwall is expanding We are currently seeking experienced Gearbox Fitters (Specialists) to join our team.

Multiple opportunities are available, including permanent, fixed-term, and casual positions. Enjoy a 4-day compressed work week for permanent and fixed-term roles, along with competitive base and casual hourly rates.

1. Gearbox Maintenance & Repair
2. Disassemble, inspect, diagnose faults, and repair or rebuild gearboxes (e.g., AFC drives, shearer gearboxes).
3. Replace worn gears, shafts, seals, and bearings.
4. Perform precision fitting using micrometers, dial indicators, and torque tools.
5. Align gearbox components to manufacturer tolerances.
6. Reassemble and perform final testing prior to installation.
7. Inspect, service, and repair hydraulic components (e.g., pumps, valves, cylinders, accumulators).
8. Read and interpret hydraulic schematics and troubleshoot faults in complex systems.
9. Replace hoses, seals, and components as required.
10. Pressure test and calibrate systems to OEM specifications.
11. Assemble new or overhauled gearboxes and hydraulic units in workshop or underground environments.
12. Complete strip-downs and rebuilds during longwall moves or overhauls.
13. Ensure components meet compliance and quality standards before handover.
14. Participate in functional testing and commissioning of repaired components.
15. Use diagnostic tools to verify correct operation under load.
16. Record test results and maintain service records.
17. Adhere to strict underground coal mining safety protocols (e.g., mine site rules, isolation procedures).
18. Conduct risk assessments (e.g., JHAs, SWMS).
19. Lock-out/tag-out procedures during maintenance.
20. Maintain clean, safe, and organized work environments.
21. Complete detailed service reports and maintenance records.
22. Report faults, part requirements, and recommendations to supervisors.
23. Use CMMS (computerized maintenance systems) if required.
