Are you a detail-oriented professional with a passion for project cost control and financial accuracy? DIALOG Fitzroy is seeking a Project Cost Controller to join our dynamic team in Brisbane. This fixed-term role offers the opportunity to grow into a permanent position and has the potential to include working remotely. The expected duration is twelve months.

About the Role

As a Project Cost Controller, you will work closely with Project Managers to ensure timely and accurate budgeting, forecasting, and cost reporting across Tier 3 and 4 projects. You'll play a key role in setting up jobs, managing project budgets, controlling variations, and forecasting profit. Your insights will help shape the financial health of our projects, providing a semi-independent view of cost performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up projects in Dynamics 365 and manage monthly cost control activities.
  • Develop and maintain earned value and cost forecasts.
  • Assist Project Managers with systematic processes for effective controls and forecasting.
  • Prepare monthly cost control reports and support internal and client reporting.
  • Compile project documentation and assist with invoicing and payment claims.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement cost control enhancements.
  • Support business performance improvements and financial management.
  • Uphold occupational health, safety, and environmental standards.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong experience in project controls and/or cost accounting
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365), Microsoft Office, and accounting software
  • Background in engineering and construction
  • Understanding of project management principles including earned value, CPI, and SPI
  • Tertiary qualification in accounting
