About the role:

Reporting into the Commercial & Operations Manager , The Merchandise and Demand Planner is responsible for developing and executing demand and merchandise planning strategies across multiple sales channels - including international retail and wholesale markets (USA, Canada, South Africa, Denmark) and eCommerce. This role ensures product availability and optimised inventory levels across ~1,500 active SKUs, primarily for "THE CUSTOM CHEF" & "THE COOK SHOP" product ranges.

This high-impact position requires extensive cross-functional collaboration with supply chain, merchandising, finance, sales, and key international partners to drive customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities of the role will include but not be limited to:

• Develop, maintain, and refine short- and long-term demand and merchandise plans based on historical data, sales trends, promotions, market intelligence, and seasonality.
• Manage Open-to-Buy (OTB) frameworks to support inventory investment decisions, budget alignment, and margin optimisation.
• Partner closely with international retail and wholesale partners to ensure alignment of stock availability, forecast expectations, and replenishment cadence.
• Deliver channel-specific planning across eCommerce and physical retail, ensuring SKU assortment and forecasting meet differing consumer behaviours and fulfilment models.
• Use CIN7 and advanced Excel modelling to drive accuracy in inventory projections, sell-through analysis, and inventory turnover targets.
• Work with the merchandising team to support new product introductions, range rationalisations, and category planning efforts.
• Monitor KPIs such as forecast accuracy, sell-through rates, inventory turns, and margin contribution, recommending corrective action where needed.
• Coordinate with finance on budgeting, purchasing plans, and margin analysis to ensure commercial targets are achieved.
• Present clear, insightful data stories tailored to multiple stakeholders—ensuring decisions are well-supported and action-oriented.

About you:

• Proven experience in merchandise & demand planning, ideally within a fast-paced retail environment
• Strong strategic and analytical skills, with the ability to create and execute financial and merchandise plans
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, with experience recommending or implementing merchandise planning systems
• Exceptional leadership and team development skills, with a track record of building high-performing teams
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
• Highly adaptable and flexible, thriving in a dynamic, startup-like environment

These full-time positions offers the opportunity for a passionate and experienced Merchandise & Demand Planner to join a fast-paced, highly dynamic planning team and environment and to help support and contribute towards the growth and trajectory of our planning efforts.
