About Yamagen

Yamagen offers a cool, casual izakaya vibe combined with exceptional culinary discipline—representing a new generation of Japanese cuisine for discerning diners. The decor features glossy enamel black finishes and eye-catching details. Our whisky list highlights Japanese distilleries, complemented by a curated saké collection and inventive cocktails in a Tokyo chic setting.

Our menu features market-fresh sashimi, intricate sushi, share plates, robata grilled dishes, and an Omakase experience crafted by Executive Chef Adam Lane, blending tradition with innovation.

About the role

We are seeking a motivated, talented, and vibrant Demi Chef to uphold high standards and creativity at Yamagen. The ideal candidate will have a team-first attitude, a passion for culinary excellence, and a drive to succeed in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

  1. Collaborate closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to ensure an efficient kitchen environment.
  2. Anticipate guest needs to deliver an exceptional dining experience.
  3. Coordinate with the Chef de Partie to prioritize daily tasks.
  4. Assist in daily kitchen operations as directed.
  5. Maintain timely and efficient work practices.
  6. Minimize waste and ensure cleanliness and safety at all times.
  7. Support training and development of junior staff.
  8. Act on behalf of the Chef de Partie in their absence.
  9. Perform cooking, butchering, baking, or pastry duties as required, and supervise other cooks.
  10. Follow all standard operating procedures consistently.
  11. Foster an environment of learning and professionalism.
  12. Perform additional duties as assigned by senior chefs.
  13. Maintain harmonious relationships within the service team.
  14. Stay informed about food products and standards.
  15. Adhere to hotel operational policies and health & safety guidelines.
