The school has 159 enrolments that operate within 7 mainstream classes. Islington Public School celebrate diversity with their population including over 10% of students with English as an Additional Language or Dialect and 4% identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders. The school FOEI is currently 32, with an increase in families from a higher socio-economic demographic giving the school an eclectic mix. The school offers an outstanding education with highly skilled staff, including a range of regional support teachers based at the school. Islington Public School provides a well-balanced curriculum that is engaging with real life connections to help children thrive. The school values sustainability, equity and diversity, fostering interconnections with all stakeholders, particularly the school Parents and Citizens' Association and the Callaghan AECG. In 2025, the school is part of an AERO Project which aims to enhance their explicit teaching practices. Islington Public School is also involved in the Positivity Project which seeks to enhance student wellbeing. General Selection Criteria

High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people Specific Selection Criteria Approval to teach. In addition to the general selection criteria, A resilient, approachable and highly visible leader with demonstrated expertise in building collaborative relationships to foster and sustain a positive school culture that reflects and celebrates community diversity and values Strong educational leadership to inspire and support the implementation of evidence-informed explicit teaching practices with a focus on continuous improvement to ensure growth and attainment of literacy and numeracy for all students A supportive school leader who prioritises developing a strong sense of belonging to meet the diverse needs of all students

Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity. Special Notes Classification Structure For Principals The Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2020 details the new principal classification structure based on complexity of schools which commenced in 2016.
