About Jewish House

Jewish House is a crisis support organization providing short-term accommodation, case management, and support services to individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness. We work in partnership with services such as Homes NSW and Community Housing.

We operate under a client-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally competent service delivery framework that supports individuals, families and groups on their path to recovery and long-term stability.

About the Role

The Social Worker/Case Worker plays a central role in supporting clients with complex needs through effective case management. This includes the design, implementation, monitoring, and review of individual case plans aimed at preventing long-term homelessness and promoting independence.

The role involves working collaboratively with clients and service providers to improve client outcomes, emotional wellbeing, and housing stability.

What You'll Do

Case Management and Client Support

• Provide respectful, non-judgmental, and inclusive support to clients, upholding their rights at all times.
• Conduct individual and family case interviews to identify the nature and extend of client's problems.
• Develop goal-oriented, trauma-informed case plans and conduct regular reviews.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date case notes and client records.
• Support clients to access services and resources that promote independence and prevent a return to homelessness.
• Provide referrals to appropriate community, legal, health, and housing services.
• Advocate for clients with external agencies including Centrelink, legal services, and housing bodies.
• Manage breaches of accommodation rules and antisocial behavior in accordance with policy.
• Prepare and maintain client intake, progress, and exit documentation.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and with external agencies.
• Organize and participate in case conferences and interagency meetings.
• Maintain strong working relationships with Homes NSW and other service providers.

Reporting and Administration

• Maintain case files, reports, and documentation as required.
• Prepare daily vacancy and occupancy reports.
• Monitor and report on client outcomes.
• Single unaccompanied females and males
• Single mothers with accompanying children
• Families with complex support needs

Other Duties

• Keep informed of government policies impacting homelessness and contribute to sector submissions when required.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and supervision.
• Support policy development and program planning.
• Maintain a current understanding of best practices in casework.
• Contribute to pilot programs, research, and community development initiatives.
• Adhere to Jewish House's WHS policies and the NSW Code of Conduct.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Social Science, Community Welfare, or related field (required).
• Demonstrated experience working with people at risk of or experiencing homelessness.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Commitment to the mission and values of Jewish House.
• High level of cultural sensitivity and ethical practice.
• Experience managing complex caseloads and prioritizing tasks.
• Strong knowledge of local support services including mental health, housing, AOD, and legal support.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and client management systems.
• Understanding of WHS responsibilities and client confidentiality.
