VRFish is the recognised peak body representing Victoria's recreational fishers. With over 1 million Victorians taking part in fishing, we are the trusted voice of the sector, working with government, community, and industry to ensure sustainable fishing, improved access, and a strong future for recreational fishing.

The Role

We are seeking an outstanding Executive Officer (EO) to provide strategic leadership and operational management of VRFish. This role is based in our Geelong office and requires travel across Victoria. Salary and packaging is negotiable.

Reporting to the Chair and Board, the EO will:

Lead advocacy efforts on behalf of recreational fishers and anglers across Victoria.

Provide authoritative advice to the Board and government stakeholders.

Manage financial, governance, and reporting obligations.

Drive delivery of the VRFish Strategic Plan and Funding Agreement with the State Government.

Build partnerships, sponsorships, and networks that advance recreational fishing.

Oversee staff and contractors, supporting a small but dedicated team.

Represent VRFish publicly, including media, stakeholder forums, and community engagement.

About You

We're looking for a leader who can combine policy advocacy, financial acumen, and organisational management. You will bring:

Proven ability to advocate and influence government, industry, and community stakeholders.

Experience in financial management, governance, and reporting in a not-for-profit or member-based organisation.

Strong leadership, organisational, and project management skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to engage across diverse groups.

Political awareness and the ability to navigate complex issues.

Knowledge of recreational fishing (highly desirable).
