Software Engineer II-Backend

Azure Networking is at the forefront of Hyperscale Cloud Computing and runs one of the largest datacenter network infrastructures in the world. With the growth of artificial intelligence (AI), Microsoft has been at the forefront of developing and adopting AI technologies. The team is tasked to design and build the next generation of AI networks.

Azure Networking team is looking for world-class Software Engineers to help build high-quality software to manage global scale AI networks.

• Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features.
• Contributes to the identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product area with minimal oversight.
• Creates and implements code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code where applicable.
• Contributes to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items and provides estimation.
• Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) on-call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions and gains approval to restore system/product/service for simple problems.
• Stays current in skills by investing time and effort into staying abreast of developments that improve availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, Go, JavaScript, or Python
• OR equivalent experience.
• 1+ years of experience in backend infrastructure.
• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, design efficiently, and write solid code.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements for this role, including, but not limited to, the Microsoft Cloud Background Check (required upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR related technical field AND 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, Go, JavaScript, or Python
• OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, Go, JavaScript, or Python
• OR equivalent experience.
• 1+ years of experience with networking, distributed systems, and system-level programming.
• 1+ years of experience with agile methodology.
• Proficient communication skills.
