Victorian Select Entry Assistant Tutor

Overview

We are thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for an organised, committed and enthusiastic individual to join us as a Victorian Select Entry Assistant Tutor at Contour TestPrep. This is a tutoring position focused on supporting students aiming for Victoria's selective schools, with access to high-quality teaching materials and minimal administrative tasks.

What You'll Do

• Weekly Group Classes: Support engaging 2-hour Select Entry classes for small groups of 6-12 students across Years 6-8. You will specialise in one subject (Mathematics, English, or Writing) and will not be required to teach all three.
• In-class structure: Follow a three-part approach per session—content delivery, targeted practice, and assessments to evaluate progress.
• Writing: Tutors mark submissions and provide prompt, targeted feedback (flexible marking work is fully compensated).
• 1-on-1 Tutoring Sessions: Provide personalised tutoring to help students with specific questions and clarify challenging concepts.
• Text-Based Student Support: Respond to student queries via our messaging platform, offering guidance on exam preparation and study strategies, building mentoring relationships.
• Training & Team Collaboration: Complete initial training, participate in occasional team meetings, and assist with basic resource review to maintain program quality.

We are launching our Victorian Selective Entry program in November 2025 to help students gain entry to top high schools such as Melbourne High School, Mac.Robertson Girls' High School, Nossal High School, and Suzanne Cory High School. Our five Victorian campuses are Point Cook, Narre Warren, Glen Waverley, Box Hill, and Melbourne CBD.

Experience & Academic Requirements

• Academic Excellence: Attended a Victorian selective school (Melbourne High, Mac.Robertson Girls', Nossal High, or Suzanne Cory High). Note: John Monash Science School or Elizabeth Blackburn School of Sciences are exempted.
• ATAR/Scores: 99+ ATAR with 40+ raw scores in VCE Maths (Methods/Specialist/Further) and English (English/Literature/English Language) highly preferred.
• Experience with competitive examinations (Select Entry, Scholarship exams, GAMSAT, SAT, etc) strongly favoured.
• Teaching Experience: Tutoring or mentoring younger students; demonstrated passion for education and student development.

Personal Requirements

• Ability to commit for the full academic year (no long absences).
• Sign an NDA to protect the organisation's resources and agree to a non-compete clause (no group tutoring outside Contour).
• Ability to travel to campus locations and a genuine desire to help students reach their potential.

Compensation

Assistant tutoring: $30 per hour + super for all duties (including in-class support, 1-on-1 consultations, text-based support, and resource feedback). Training, meetings, and additional tasks: $25 per hour + super. You will be paid for every hour contributed to student success, whether in person or remote.

Work Schedule & Training

• Onboarding & Training: Early October at Melbourne CBD campus; in-person training at Melbourne CBD during October and November, with ongoing professional development sessions.
• Regular Weekly Work: Team meeting (~1 hour/week); Classes: 8-24 hours/week (after-school and weekend hours across Victorian campuses); 1-on-1 consultations: ~4 hours/week (varies with time of year).
• Program Timeline: Start Date 24 November 2025; Christmas/New Year break during program pause.
