Join to apply for the Victorian Select Entry Assistant Tutor role at Contour Education. This is an opportunity to support students pursuing entry into Victoria's selective high schools with small-group and 1-on-1 tutoring, using high-quality teaching materials and a collaborative team environment.

We are Victoria's largest and fastest-growing tutoring company with 6000+ students and 200+ team members. In November 2025, we are launching our Victorian Selective Entry program designed to empower students to gain entry into schools such as Melbourne High School, Mac.Robertson Girls' High School, Nossal High School, and Suzanne Cory High School.

What you'll do

• Weekly Group Classes: Support engaging 2-hour Select Entry classes for small groups of 6-12 students across Years 6-8. Subjects covered are Mathematics (Reasoning / Quantitative subtests), English (Reading / Verbal subtests), and Writing (Creative / Persuasive subtests).
• Note: You will specialise in one subject, so you are not required to cover all three.
• In each session, follow a structured three-part approach: content delivery, targeted practice, and assessments to evaluate progress.
• Writing: Tutors will mark student submissions and provide prompt, targeted feedback; this marking work is flexible and fully compensated.
• 1-on-1 Tutoring Sessions: Provide personalised tutoring to help students with specific questions, clarify challenging concepts, and reinforce topics to accelerate understanding.
• Text-Based Student Support: Respond to student queries via our messaging platform, offering guidance on exam preparation and study strategies, and build mentoring relationships with assigned students.
• Training & Team Collaboration: Complete initial training, participate in occasional team meetings, and assist with basic resource review to maintain program quality.

Experience & Academic Requirements

• Academic Excellence: Attended a Victorian selective school (Melbourne High, Mac.Robertson Girls' High, Nossal High, or Suzanne Cory High). Note: Excludes John Monash Science School or Elizabeth Blackburn School of Sciences.
• High academic achievement preferred (e.g., ATAR 99+ with strong performance in Maths and English) and experience with competitive exams (Select Entry, Scholarship exams, GAMSAT, SAT).
• Tutoring or mentoring experience with younger students and demonstrated passion for education.

Personal Requirements

• Ability to commit for the full academic year; sign an NDA; agree to a non-compete clause (no group tutoring outside Contour); be able to travel to campus locations; a genuine desire to help students reach their potential.

Compensation & Schedule

• Compensation: $30 per hour + Super for all duties including in-class support, 1-on-1 video consultations, text-based question support, and resource feedback.
• Training & Meetings: $25 per hour + Super; paid for onboarding, ongoing training, and regular team activities.
• Work Schedule: 8-24 hours per week for classes, plus 1-on-1 consultations; after-school and weekend hours; flexible and adjustable to your schedule.
• Start Date: 24 November 2025; Christmas break observed as part of the program timeline.
