Manager Level Business Services Accountant (Contract)

A large and growing regional North West NSW firm is seeking a Contract, Manager level Accountant to bolster their Business Services and Tax team during a period of maternity leave within our office. This role is contract-based, fully remote, with flexible hours and above-market pay.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Given this is a contract role, client contact may be limited unless the candidate desires more involvement.
  • The ideal candidate would be a very senior Accountant with significant exposure to primary production clients and some experience reviewing compliance work.
  • Reviews (and some preparation) of financials and tax returns for primary production clients (Beef, Wheat, Cotton, etc.), covering all sizes, including clients in the ATO Next 5,000 program.
  • Engagement in restructuring, capital gains, strategic tax planning, rollovers, etc., with opportunities to collaborate with external specialists such as tax solicitors, commercial solicitors, stamp duty barristers, and CGT specialists.
  • Providing advisory services.
  • Liaising with the ATO.
  • Maintaining and preparing clients' financial records.
  • Working directly with partners and senior staff depending on the candidate's experience.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in an Australian accounting firm.
  • Proven experience working with primary production clients.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with XERO accounting software.
  • Ability to work fully remotely, with options to visit regional offices if needed.
  • Above-market salary package offered.
  • Exposure to larger farming clients, many undergoing restructuring.
