About The Facility

Major sites include University Hospital Geelong, the McKellar Centre, Barwon Health North, and residential aged care facilities. Mental health, community health and dental services are delivered across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac. The Barwon Health Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a 24-bed unit providing tertiary critical care services to the Barwon South West region, caring for medical, surgical and cardiothoracic adults, ECMO patients, and critically ill children. The ICU is involved in clinical research and education for Deakin School of Medicine, and in the training of junior doctors and nurses.

About The Role

An exciting opportunity to complete a Graduate Certificate in Advanced Clinical Nursing (ICU), in affiliation with Deakin University. Successful applicants will have experience in acute medical, surgical or critical care areas, excellent communication skills and a motivation for continued professional development. Applicants will be supported by a structured program to develop advanced clinical skills and knowledge to care for critically ill patients within the ICU. You will work as an active part of a health care team that demonstrates leadership and embraces change in the coordination and delivery of care in a modern ICU. Multiple temporary positions of 64 hours per fortnight are available with offers of ongoing employment following successful completion of the Graduate Certificate.

The Program

• 12 months: 64 hrs per fortnight, temporary part time (commencing Jan 2026)
• In collaboration with Deakin University
• Competencies and hurdles assessed onsite by Clinical Educator. Shift support offered through Clinical Support Nurses

Requirements

Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years acute medical and/or surgical nursing experience. Previous HDU, ICU and/or emergency nursing experience is desirable.
