Job Summary

The Field Service Technician will provide breakdown and general service for all makes of Compressors and ancillary equipment. The role involves promoting Gardner Denver Service and ensuring customer satisfaction through quality workmanship. The technician has the authority to initiate action when a non-conformance is identified and to recommend solutions through designated channels.

Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Provide after-hours call-out assistance and call-back availability when rostered on duty.
  • Conduct overnight field trips to service breakdowns, perform maintenance, and support customers.
  • Promote and enroll medium to long-term customers in the Air Cover preventative maintenance plans.
  • Provide internal and external customer support for the assigned equipment.
  • Complete all documentation and administrative requirements.
  • Pass sales leads to the sales team.
  • Achieve weekly and monthly productivity targets.
  • Ensure company-owned equipment and premises are kept clean, presentable, and in good condition.
  • Train, support, coach, and mentor new and existing colleagues.

Breakdown, Maintenance & Repair

  • Install, repair, and maintain a range of Compressors.
  • Coordinate, support, and contribute to the day-to-day running of the GD Service Business Team. In case of breakdowns, test equipment/system, perform fault finding, and carry out repairs.
  • Conduct technical preventative maintenance and general servicing.
  • Ensure work sites are left clean and tidy after servicing.

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure a safe working environment at all times, ensuring activities do not harm self, colleagues, or customers.
  • Maintain safety compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Eliminate risks by conducting housekeeping and working with the customer's line manager to mitigate hazards before starting work.
  • Promote and support incident reporting, including near misses, accidents, or equipment damage.
  • Participate in and conduct safety audits for assigned areas.

Reporting

  • Submit all risk assessments and Job Safety Analyses within 48 hours of completion.
  • Submit timesheets daily, including hours worked, work conducted, location, and job number.

Other responsibilities as assigned or required.

Key Competencies

  • Knowledge of Compressors or similar equipment is essential.
  • Ability to communicate technical and product information effectively to internal and external customers.
  • Intermediate computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to determine root causes of issues.
  • Organized self-starter.
  • Trade Qualifications, Cert III – Fitter and Turner, with a minimum of 5 years maintenance experience.
