Role Description

Infrastructure Engineers implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services. The Senior Gateway Engineer uses their in-depth knowledge of specific ICT Platforms to provide expert advice on the management and maintenance of those platforms. They work closely with key third party suppliers to ensure the provision of a robust gateway infrastructure capability for the business, and liaise with architecture and shared services areas to ensure the security of the day-to-day technical operations. Senior Gateway Engineers exercise a considerable degree of independence, with decision-making substantially dependent on their high-level judgement and consideration of wider agency implications, with work being performed under the general guidance of senior staff.

This is a full-time remote role for an Infrastructure Engineer based in Canberra, ACT.

Responsibilities
  • Implement, manage and retire infrastructure that supports digital services (physical, virtual, networking and cloud).
  • Provide expert advice on management and maintenance of ICT platforms as a Senior Gateway Engineer.
  • Collaborate with key third party suppliers to ensure a robust gateway infrastructure capability.
  • Coordinate with architecture and shared services to maintain security of day-to-day technical operations.
  • Exercise a considerable degree of independence with high-level judgement and consideration of wider agency implications, under the guidance of senior staff.

  • Cisco data centre technologies (Cisco ACI, Cisco Routers, Nexus switches)
  • Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
  • Palo Alto firewalls and IPS solutions
  • VPN technologies, DNS (Infoblox) solutions
  • Hybrid and public cloud services
