About the role

Are you ready to take flight in your career? Biodiversity Australia is seeking an experienced and driven Civil Aviation Manager to lead the charge in expanding our civil aviation capabilities. This is a rare opportunity to take operational ownership of cutting-edge aviation environmental, wildlife hazard management and aerodrome technical projects across Australia.

In this pivotal role, you'll oversee project delivery across civil aerodromes, ensuring our services meet the highest standards of compliance, quality, and performance. But this isn't just about managing what's already in motion—it's about shaping what's next.

You'll be instrumental in developing a scalable and sustainable unit structure, ready to grow with demand and adapt to new market opportunities. From driving business development and leading tender submissions, to building lasting relationships with clients and contributing technical insight to key deliverables like Wildlife Hazard Management Plans (WHMPs)—this is a role for a dynamic leader who thrives on both strategy and execution.

About You:

You're a commercially minded leader with a passion for aviation and the environment. Strategic yet hands-on, you thrive in dynamic, project-driven settings and bring a results-focused mindset to everything you do.

To succeed in this role, you'll bring:

A strong background in aviation operations, WHMPs, and environmental compliance

Proven experience in business development and securing major contracts

Exceptional project and contract management skills with strong financial acumen

Excellent communication and reporting capabilities, with the ability to engage clients and stakeholders across sectors

A collaborative and adaptable leadership style, capable of guiding teams and fostering a high-performance culture

A strong understanding of regulatory frameworks across civil aviation

A commitment to cultural awareness, Indigenous engagement, and safety as a core value

Desired Credentials

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

A tertiary qualification in Business, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Planning, Engineering or a related discipline (Desirable but not essential)

Construction industry safety induction card (White Card)

Driver's licence

The remuneration for this role is negotiable and will be based on proven skillset and experience.
