Location: Forbes Hospital (NSW Health Pathology, Lachlan Health Service)

The NSW Health Pathology service is located within Forbes Hospital and services Lachlan Health Service, which covers Forbes and Parkes Hospitals. It provides inpatient and outpatient services at both sites, communities and surrounding villages, including 24‑hour emergency care and diagnostic services. The close‑knit pathology team focuses on high quality service delivery in a harmonious, community‑connected environment.

What you'll be doing

Responsible for delivering a range of operational laboratory activities including coordination and provision of scientific and technical training and the ongoing review, development and quality management of laboratory practices to ensure compliance with operational standards, quality standards and continual process improvement.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree or higher in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification, with pathology-relevant subjects from a recognised tertiary institution
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in delivering pathology services relevant to the laboratory, including use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems and Quality Control Systems; experience with computer programs such as Microsoft Office
  • Customer focus with well‑developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including ability to communicate with customers, patients and clinical/laboratory staff; report writing, statistical evaluation of data and ability to implement policies and procedures
  • Ability to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in a team environment while delivering results within specified timeframes and contributing to diagnostic skills relevant to the laboratory
  • Initiative, problem solving and analytical skills, with ability to apply established principles in a pathology laboratory and resolve general and complex issues
  • Understanding of legislation, policies and requirements impacting the laboratory environment including work health and safety and privacy requirements
