Senior Associate - Transaction Tax

Smart Tax Search are searching for a Senior Associate to join a leading national Tax practice in a top-tier law firm. This is a permanent opportunity, offering exposure to some of the most high-profile and complex transactions in the market.

In this role, you'll work closely with Partners and a highly regarded tax team, applying your expertise in income tax across advisory and disputes. You'll partner with major corporates and financial institutions, providing technical and commercially focused advice on transactions, structuring, and regulatory engagement.

What you'll be doing
  • Advising top-tier clients on complex tax issues, helping them achieve their commercial objectives.
  • Supporting clients through ATO engagements, private rulings, disputes and litigation.
  • Collaborating with other specialist practice groups (Corporate, Banking & Finance, Funds, Disputes and more) to deliver seamless solutions.
  • Developing your expertise while mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to the growth of the team.
About you
  • Legally qualified in Australia (completed College of Laws and holds a practicing certificate/willing to obtain one).
  • Solid experience in tax law gained at a leading law or professional services firm.
  • Strong exposure to advisory and transactional tax work. Some exposure to tax controversy work would be an advantage.
  • Confident working directly with clients and managing matters independently.
  • A desire to keep growing, mentoring others and building your network.
