Overview

Arborist role at Woollahra Council on a permanent full-time basis. Location: Double Bay, New South Wales. Base salary up to $80,249.65 p.a. plus super, with penalty rates for overtime. Additional allowances up to $3,073 per annum. 38 hours per week with a fortnightly rostered day off, providing flexible work/life balance. This role is based out of the Alexandria facility with onsite parking and involves driving to the Woollahra municipality as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out arboricultural maintenance on Council's owned trees in parks, reserves, bushland and streets.
  • Use climbing techniques and EWPs to complete pruning and/or removal works as required throughout the municipality.
  • Be prepared to stay after hours to attend emergency situations including tree failures or to assist on-call Arborists; apply award penalty rates in addition to normal pay.
  • Participate in Tree Maintenance operations from the Alexandria facility, then drive to the Woollahra municipality and return in the afternoon.
About You / Qualifications
  • Certificate III in Arboriculture (Climbing Arborist) or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in a similar role with high-profile scheduled tree maintenance programs.
  • Current MR Driver's License (or willingness to attain in the very short term as a requirement of the role).
  • Computer literacy and sound knowledge of Work Health and Safety with practical application of safe working procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and coordinate team members as required; well-developed communication skills with experience dealing with the public.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and a willingness to follow issues through to completion.
  • Willingness to participate in a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Construction Induction Card (and any other listed mandatory qualifications).
Desirable Criteria
  • Traffic Control Qualifications – Blue and Yellow Card.
  • High Risk License – EWP.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop maintenance and improvement programs.
Salary and Benefits
  • Base salary up to $80,249.65 p.a. plus super plus overtime penalty rates.
  • Additional allowances up to $3,073 per annum.
  • Fortnightly rostered day off; 38 hours per week; flexible work/life balance.
  • Location: Alexandria facility with onsite parking; travel to Woollahra municipality as required.
