Position Summary

The Senior Payroll Officer supports the Payroll Manager in ensuring the smooth and accurate delivery of our payroll operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining strong relationships across the business, delivering timely reporting, and driving continuous improvement in systems and processes.

This role plays a key part in maintaining strong relationships across the business, delivering timely reporting, and driving continuous improvement in systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end payroll, ensuring timely and accurate payments, reporting, and compliance with all statutory requirements (e.g. PAYG, STP, superannuation, payroll tax).
  • Maintain and update payroll systems and employee data, including letters of employment and earnings, while supporting EOFY and audit processes.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and payroll support to employees and key stakeholders across the business.
  • Identify, communicate, and resolve payroll issues or discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, assist with payroll-related projects, and support the Payroll Manager in team engagement and stakeholder collaboration.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • At least 5 years' experience working in a complex, multiple payroll environment.
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply various awards, enterprise agreements, and multi-state payroll legislation.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with demonstrated experience implementing business process improvements
  • Proficient with various Payroll & Time Attendance systems (Empower & StoreForce desirable).
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information responsibly.
