Come Work With Us This position requires you to work autonomously and as part of a caring and compassionate multidisciplinary team who provides mental health assessment, planning, evidence-based treatment and evaluation to prevent or minimise the physical, psychological and social consequences of emerging mental disorder in young people.

CASPAR (Comprehensive Assessment Service for Psychosis and At Risk) is a specialist youth mental health service providing in-reach into headspace sites across SESLHD. CASPAR provides comprehensive assessment, treatment and other support services for adolescents, young people and their families who present with complex mental health disorders and possible UHR (ultra high risk for psychosis). We have a multidisciplinary team approach to care, aimed to prevent, identify, treat and reduce the impact of these difficulties on adolescents, young people and their families. We provide short to medium term care. Interventions may be individual, family or group within a recovery based model.

Where youll be working

The CASPAR team works closely with headspace staff at the Miranda, Hurstville and Bondi Junction centres in the referral of young people, the delivery of specialist assessment and intervention, and builds capacity in early detection of emerging mental illness

Responsibilities
  • Work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide mental health assessment, planning, evidence-based treatment and evaluation for young people.
  • Provide comprehensive assessment and treatment within CASPAR for adolescents and young people with complex mental health disorders and possible UHR, including individual, family or group interventions within a recovery-based model.
  • Collaborate with headspace sites to deliver in-reach services and support families and young people.
  • Contribute to prevention and reduction of the impact of mental health difficulties on adolescents, young people and families; provide short to medium term care.
  • Participate in planning, implementation and reporting on quality improvement projects in support of clinical service development.
Qualifications
  • Qualification in Occupational Therapy with registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA).
  • Extensive knowledge and experience working therapeutically with children, adolescents, young people and their families.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in using evidence-based treatments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in using family-based intervention models.
  • Extensive experience working with families from culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
  • Experience in providing mental health assessments and identifying and managing risk with children, adolescents and youth populations.
  • Experience in planning, implementation and reporting on quality improvement projects in support of clinical service development.
  • NSW Driverd Licence and willingness to travel in accordance with demands of the position.

Selection Criteria
  • Qualification in Occupational Therapy with registration with AHPRA.
