About the role :
The Occupational Recognition Service (ORS) is a legislative power unique to South Australia, granted through the South Australian Skills Act 2008, to certify that a person's skills or experience in a specific occupation are equivalent to those of a graduating apprentice or trainee. ORS recognizes skills, experience, and knowledge gained on the job or through qualifications earned interstate or overseas.
The Senior Occupational Recognition Lead provides leadership, direction, and advice to manage the legislative framework surrounding the development and implementation of the Occupational Recognition Service. The role involves high-level strategic engagement with key government and non-government stakeholders, offering advice on government policy, Cabinet and Parliament matters, governance, legislative policy, and intergovernmental relations.
Key Competencies :
To succeed in this role, you will have :
- Extensive experience in analyzing and evaluating complex and sensitive policy issues, developing policy advice under broad guidance, and managing processes to obtain expert analysis from agencies or non-government providers.
- A strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and principles of effective regulation, with the ability to interpret legislation for program development and implementation in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Experience in leading projects and managing resources to deliver services within set timeframes and budgets.
- Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate strategies, initiatives, and programs supporting regulatory reform and legislative compliance, providing leadership within a team environment.
- Skills in drafting high-standard briefings that communicate complex information clearly for diverse audiences, including senior government officials and the public, along with effective stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and influence skills.
Remuneration :
Competitive salary ranging from $121,107 to $125,679

- Essential: Nil
- Desirable: A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
Special Conditions :
- The role is full-time (1.0 FTE), with an initial 12-month contract.
- Satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check (NPC) and Working With Children's Check (WWCC) are required prior to employment.
