About the role :

Student Support Services works with schools and preschools to provide support to meet the needs of all children. The role involves participating in the implementation of a service model that supports integrated and targeted services for children and young people with additional needs.

The Psychologist is part of an inter-disciplinary team working with children and young people with developmental, cognitive, social, emotional, behavioral, physical difficulties, and exceptional needs (including giftedness). The role involves developing evidence-based psychology interventions with preschool and school staff, and parents, including proactive, targeted, and intensive strategies adaptable for learning and home contexts.

Student Support Services are committed to cultural responsiveness, valuing Aboriginal ways of knowing, doing, and being.

At both AHP2 and AHP3 levels, this position works under the guidance of the Senior Psychologist.

AHP2 – Psychologist

  • Deliver targeted assessments and interventions for children and students with complex needs.
  • Address issues like learning difficulties, neurodevelopmental conditions, trauma, and behavioral challenges.
  • Collaborate with families, school staff, and other professionals to implement interventions.
  • Operate under the supervision of a Senior Psychologist.

AHP3 – Psychologist

  • Provide expert psychological services and mentorship.
  • Work with students with complex and co-morbid conditions, including rare neurodevelopmental and behavioral challenges.
  • Lead in developing and delivering advanced interventions.
  • Supervise and support AHP1 and AHP2 psychologists.
  • Contribute to service development and quality improvement.

Qualifications : Essential :

Current and full registration (general) with the Psychology Board of Australia (both AHP2 and AHP3 levels).

Psychology Board of Australia approved supervisor (AHP3 level only).

Desirable : Area of practice endorsement – educational, developmental, clinical, or counseling psychology (AHP3 level only).

Special conditions :

The successful applicant must obtain a Department for Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check (WWCC) before employment, renewed every five years. They must also undertake RRHAN–EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse, and Neglect - Education Care) training, updated every three years.

Remuneration :

AHP2: $88,255 - $102,240 per annum (full-time) + superannuation (11.5%)

AHP3: $104,180 - $111,746 per annum (full-time) + superannuation (11.5%)

Note : The position will be filled at either AHP2 or AHP3 level, based on skills, knowledge, experience, and responsibility level.
