We are currently seeking an Operations/Office Manager to work alongside our current Thursday Island based Launch Manager.

This is a full-time position and requires the successful applicant to reside on Thursday Island. Those looking for FIFO work need not apply.

The Position

The successful applicant will be required to undertake and become involved in the following responsibilities:

• Crew scheduling with oversight of safe, reliable, on-time and cost effective use of company resources to conduct pilot transfers

• Monitoring and scheduling of all vessels and communication with vessel masters as required

• Communications with our Brisbane operations team, launch crew and marine pilots

• Communications with our Fleet Manager based in Cairns in relation to vessel maintenance reporting

• Ensure compliance with Torres Pilots' Quality and Safety Management Systems

• Monitor SMS documentation for compliance with the fatigue management plan, launch logs & maintenance, crew safety inductions and drills

• Management of assets including properties, launches and staff

• Provide RDO, annual leave, personal leave relief for Thursday Island Manager and Operation Officers

• Some afterhours / night operations required

The position offers:

• Subsidised private and fully furnished accommodation at our residence on Thursday Island (rent $265pw + elec/internet $30pw)

• 6 weeks annual leave

• 4 return airfares to Cairns

About You

You will be safety focused with a high attention to detail, can work under pressure as part of a collaborative team, prioritise tasks, manage workloads and staff autonomously in a remote location.

Qualifications and experience

• High level of organisational skill

• High level of time and personnel management skills

• Ability to work 7 on, 3 off, 8 on, 3 off roster which may fall on weekends and public holidays

• Strong computer skills with experience in Word, Excel, and Outlook

• A minimum 2 years in a similar role preferred

Highly desirable

• Background in maritime operations

• Previous experience with crew rostering

• Master Class 5 (unrestricted ticket) and MED 3 or higher

If successful, you will be required to obtain a Short Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency (SROCP) allowing you to communicate over VHF radio.
